OneBox HD is an Android app that provides on-demand media. We’ll learn how to install and use OneBox HD on FireStick and Fire TV devices in this guide.
Terrarium TV is no longer available. There is, however, a workaround in the form of a patched/modified APK that allows you to use the app, it will never be updated with new content. As soon as I learned of Terrarium TV’s demise, I began compiling a list of apps that could serve as the best and most suitable replacements. One of the first names that came to mind was OneBox HD. This is due to the fact that it is one of the most popular streaming services for Android. As a result, I gave it a shot.
Despite the fact that OneBox HD has been shut down and still works on FireStick, it isn’t as good as it once was, despite being updated to be compatible with the remote controller. The app hasn’t been updated in a long time. While new and trending content may be available, it is rarely displayed on the app’s main screen. You’ll have to manually look it up. For a television, the user interface isn’t great either. As a result, I don’t think this app is a good substitute for Terrarium TV. On our list of the best FireStick apps, you can find some better options.
OneBox HD is now operational again. However, you must first sideload the MV Cast-Player video player onto your FireStick.
Please note that the latest version of the OneBox HD is more remote-compatible than previous versions, you may still have issues interacting with the app while watching a video. For example, the app does not allow for as easy Play/Pause as it should. On a FireStick, you can install and use Mouse Toggle to fix navigation issues.
Users of the FireStick, take note!
Governments and internet service providers keep a close eye on your online activity, and accessing copyrighted content on your Fire TV Stick could land you in hot water. Your IP address, 22.214.171.124, is currently visible to everyone. I strongly advise you to get the best FireStick VPN to hide your IP address and stream your favorite shows safely.
ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN on the market, is what I use. It’s not only simple to set up on any device, but it also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Plus, you can always get a refund if you’re not completely satisfied. On top of that, ExpressVPN is currently offering three extra months for free on their annual plan!
Here are some of the reasons why you should always use a VPN.

OneBox HD for FireStick
To install an app from the Amazon Store, go to your FireStick’s search function, which is located on the top-left of the home screen, and search for the app you want.
However, things aren’t as simple when it comes to apps that require installation from a third-party source. Because OneBox HD is not available on the Amazon App Store, it will be sideloaded onto your FireStick. The following are the requirements for installing such an app:
You’ll need a third-party app that allows you to sideload content onto your FireStick.
Don’t be concerned! I’ll make things easier for you, even if they appear to be difficult.
Unknown Sources Apps should be enabled.
Unknown Sources Apps is a security setting that is disabled by default to prevent third-party downloads. Because OneBox HD is safe, we’ll enable it by following these steps:
1. From the top menu bar on the FireStick home screen, select Settings.
2. On the next screen, select Device.
3. Go to Developer Options and select it.
4. If you see Apps from Unknown Sources is turned off, click it to turn it on.
5. When prompted, select Turn On.
That’ll be it!
Steps to Install Onebox HD
To install apps like OneBox HD on your FireStick, you’ll need an additional side-loading app, as I previously stated. You can use one of two popular apps:
- ES File Explorer
Both of these apps are available on Amazon. Simply search for them and install them using the search option on your FireStick device’s home screen, as I previously stated.
We’ll now go over how to install the OneBox HD app on FireStick using both of these apps one at a time.
Method 1: Using a Downloader, install OneBox HD on a FireStick
OneBox HD is now operational again. However, you must first sideload the MV Cast-Player video player onto your FireStick. The following steps are accompanied by instructions.
Open Downloader after downloading it from the Amazon Store and follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the right side of the Downloader app’s main screen, there should be an empty space where you can type in the URL (make sure Home tab on the left is selected). Enter this area by clicking inside it.
Step 2: Go to the following URL to download the OneBox HD APK:
Please do not use the following link:
This player is required for OneBox HD to work.
Step 3: In a few moments, the Downloader app will connect to the server where the OneBox HD APK file is saved and begin downloading it.
Step 4: Once the APK download is complete, the Downloader app will run the file and begin the installation process. Click Install in the bottom right corner of this window.
Step 5: Allow the OneBox HD app to be installed on the FireStick. When you install this app, you’ll see the App Installed message (as shown below). When you click Open, the app launches right away. But first, let’s click Done.
Step 6: To return to the Downloader app, click Done. The following prompt appears here.
To remove the OneBox HD APK file from the FireStick, click Delete. Your device’s storage space is limited, so there’s no sense in keeping files that are no longer needed.
Step 7: Select Delete once more.
That’s it! Return to the FireStick interface and launch the OneBox HD app.
How to Use OneBox HD in a ‘Safe’ Manner
Your FireStick / Fire TV is now ready to watch your favorite shows and movies. However, before you begin, please be aware that your ISP and government will be able to see everything you stream online. This means that watching free movies, TV shows, and sports online could land you in legal trouble.
Fortunately, there is a foolproof method for keeping your streaming activities hidden from your ISP and the government. All you need for your Fire Stick is a good VPN. A VPN will hide your real IP address, which is 126.96.36.199, and allow you to avoid online surveillance, ISP throttling, and content geo-blocking.
ExpressVPN is the fastest and most secure VPN, which I personally use and recommend. It works with all types of streaming apps and is very simple to set up on a Fire TV / Stick.
We do not condone the infringement of copyright laws. But what if you unintentionally stream content from an unauthorized source? It is not always easy to distinguish between a legitimate and an illegal source.
Let’s see how to use ExpressVPN to keep your streaming activities hidden from prying eyes before you start streaming on your Fire Stick / Fire TV.
Step 1: CLICK HERE to join ExpressVPN. A 30-day money-back guarantee is included. Meaning, you can use it for free for the first 30-days and then request a full refund if you are not satisfied with the results (which is highly unlikely).
Step 2: Turn on your Fire TV / Stick and go to the far left-hand “Search” option. Now type “Expressvpn” (without the quotes) into the search bar and select ExpressVPN from the list of results that appears.
Step 3: To install the ExpressVPN app for Fire TV / Stick, click “Download.”
Step 4: Launch the app and log in using the credentials you created when purchasing an ExpressVPN subscription. Select “Sign in” from the drop-down menu.
Step 5: To connect to a VPN server, click the Power icon. That is all there is to it. With the fastest and best VPN for FireStick, your connection is now secure.
More information on using ExpressVPN with Fire TV / Stick can be found here.
Method 2: Using ES File Explorer, install OneBox HD on your Fire Stick (requires a $9.99 monthly premium subscription).
This is merely an alternative method. You can skip this method if you’ve already completed the Downloader method (Method 1).
I’m assuming you already have the ES File Explorer app installed on your FireStick. If not, do it from the Amazon Store, as I previously stated. To install OneBox HD, follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the left side of the main screen of ES File Explorer, there is a menu sidebar. Tools > Download Manager can be found in this menu bar.
Step 2: You’ll notice a number of options in the bottom right corner. Select the first option, which says +New.
Step 3: In the Path field of the dialog box that appears next, type the following URL: http://onebox.firesticktricks.com/
In the Name field, type oneboxhd or any other name you want. Click Download Now when you’re finished.
Step 4: ES File Explorer will connect to the server and download the OneBox HD APK to your FireStick.
Step 5: When the download is complete, double-click the file to open it.
Step 6: When the following prompt appears, click Install.
Step 7: This starts the installation process. By clicking Install, you give your final approval.
Step 8: Now wait for the message “App Installed” to appear. Click Open to start the app. Click Done to return to the ES File Explorer app.
To free up space, go to the Download folder in the ES File Explorer app and delete the APK file.
Using the ES File Explorer app, you can install OneBox HD on your FireStick device.
How to Use The OneBox HD on Fire TV Stick
Your newly installed app will appear in the Your Apps & Channels section of FireStick.
When you first open the app, it may inform you that a new version is available. If this is the case, you will need to upgrade to the latest version in order to use the app. There is no way to turn off the notification. So, press the OK button. It will not take long.
Allow for the download to finish. To complete the installation, follow the onscreen instructions (by clicking Install on the next window)
Click Open when the following confirmation appears.
The upgrade does not replace the existing OneBox HD copy. Instead, a new copy of the app is created. That’s the first time I’ve seen an app do something like that.
When you run the new version, it will ask you if you want to uninstall the previous one.
Go ahead and press the OK button. It’s pointless to keep the old version.
OneBox HD is now available on FireStick. This is the app’s home screen.
The Genres dropdown, as seen in the top-right, allows you to filter the content by genre. The Search icon is next to it, and it allows you to search for content using keywords.
To switch between movies and TV shows, tap the menu button in the top-left corner of the app.
Use Mouse Toggle with OneBox HD for a better experience during playback and navigation, as I previously stated.
That’s pretty much all there is to OneBox HD.
Final Thoughts on How to Install OneBox HD on FireStick
Even though I’ve referred to OneBox HD as a Terrarium TV alternative throughout this guide, I could have used it even if the latter was available. OneBox HD comes with a large media library and a user-friendly interface. This app is completely remote-friendly, so accessing and navigating it on your FireStick will be a breeze. You learned how to install OneBox HD on a FireStick in this tutorial. For me, the app is excellent.
