This guide will show you how to install MX Player on your FireStick in detail. The steps outlined here also apply to the Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV, and Fire TV Cube.
MX Player is an Android-based media player. MX Player plays videos and music files just like any other media player. Unlike VLC, however, this app is frequently used in the background as a supporting player for a variety of third-party streaming apps.
Some of these streaming apps will not work on your device unless you have MX Player installed. Others claim that it provides a better streaming experience. Because there are so many apps that require MX Player in some way, I figured it would be a good idea to write a separate installation guide for it.
Install MX Player on your FireStick in minutes by following this guide.
How to Install MX Player on FireStick
MX Player is a third-party application that is not available through the Amazon Appstore. It will be sideloaded onto your FireStick as a result.
To install MX Player, we’ll use the Downloader app as the primary method. I’ve found Downloader to be the most straightforward and user-friendly sideloading tool I’ve come across.
I’ll also show you how to install using the ES File Explorer app as an alternative. ES Explorer is a more versatile tool that’s also popular for sideloading apps on FireStick and other Android devices.
Both Downloader and ES File Explorer can be downloaded and installed from the Amazon Store. Take the following steps:
- On the FireStick home screen, select the Search option.
- Enter the app’s name here.
- When the app’s name appears in the search results, click it.
- On the following screen, click the app icon.
- On the next screen, click the Download button.
- Let’s get this installation process started.
Switch ON Apps from Unknown Sources : Installation Prerequisite:
Malicious third-party apps exist. As a result, a default security setting on FireStick prevents their installation. MX Player, on the other hand, is secure. To enable its installation, follow the steps below:
Select Settings from the FireStick’s home screen (in the menu bar on the top)
On the next screen, select My Fire TV (or Device in some devices)
Select Developer Options from the drop-down menu.
Now see if Apps from Unknown Sources is enabled or disabled. If it’s turned off, click it to turn it on.
When the following warning message appears, ignore it and click Turn on.
You may now proceed to the next step in the installation process, which is outlined below.
Installation Procedure Using The Downloader
To install MX Player on your FireStick using the Downloader app, follow the steps below:
When you first open the Downloader app, it defaults to the Home option. On the right side of the window is a URL field. Within this field, click.
An onscreen keyboard should now appear. Enter https://www.firesticktricks.com/mx into the address bar.
On your FireStick remote, press the Play/Pause button, or on the screen, click Go.
Wait for Downloader to finish downloading the MX Player APK file to your FireStick.
When the next screen appears, scroll down to the bottom right to find the Next button.
In place of the Next button, click the Install button.
MX Player is now being installed. It takes about a minute to a minute and a half to a minute and a half to a minute and a
MX Player has been installed when you see the App installed confirmation. We won’t be using this app directly, so there’s no need to click the Open button. MX Player is primarily used to play videos in other apps. After that, click Done.
We’ve returned to the Downloader window. Once you’ve installed the app, it’s best to delete the APK file. The file is no longer required, and it will take up unnecessary space on your limited FireStick storage. Select Delete.
To confirm that you want to delete the MX Player APK file, click Delete once more.
That concludes our discussion. Using the Downloader app, you have successfully installed MX Player on your FireStick.
Alternate Method: Install MX Player on FireStick using The ES File Explorer
You do not need to use this method if you have already installed MX Player using the Downloader app. If Downloader is not available in your region, follow these additional installation instructions. You can also use these instructions if you prefer ES File Explorer to Downloader.
ES File Explorer is no longer available for free. Purchase a $9.99 per month premium subscription to sideload apps.
So, here’s how to use ES File Explorer to download and install MX Player:
Navigate to the right side of the window in ES File Explorer.
Now go to the bottom of the page and click the Downloader icon.
Go to the bottom menu bar and click +New on the next screen.
Enter the URL https://www.firesticktricks.com/mx in the Path field, and any name you want in the Name field. I’m going with MX. Note: In the Path field, you must type the entire URL. Click the “Download Now” button.
Allow a minute or two for the MX Player APK file to download.
When the file has been downloaded, click Open file.
When prompted, select Install.
Scroll down to the bottom right of the screen and click the Next button.
Install should be selected (the button that appears in place of Next)
Wait for the MX Player app to finish installing.
When the message “App Installed” appears, click Done.
So that’s how you use ES File Explorer to install MX Player APK on FireStick.
We removed the APK file from the Downloader method, as you may have noticed. You might want to follow suit here. Follow these simple instructions:
- On the left side of the ES File Explorer app, click to expand the Local menu.
- You should now see two options for Home; select the second.
- Now click the Download folder on the right side of the ES Explorer window.
- MX Player APK should be selected.
- Long press the OK/Select button on your FireStick remote until the APK file shows a small checkmark.
To delete the APK file, go to the bottom menu bar and click the Delete/Trash icon.
Final Thoughts On How to Install MX Player on Amazon FireStick
While MX Player can play local media files, you won’t be impressed because it only has a few features. VLC, which is available on the Amazon Store, is a good choice for playing local media. However, it is recommended that you download MX Player before using some of the popular streaming apps such as Cinema APK, Titanium TV, and others. It’s a small media player that takes only a few minutes to set up.
