Because of a fallout between Google and Amazon earlier this year, the YouTube FireStick app had to be removed from the Amazon Store. However, the two digital behemoths have finally reached an agreement, and YouTube is now available on the Amazon Store. There’s no denying that YouTube is a fantastic media platform, and I’m glad to see it back on the FireStick.
What makes me even happier is that the YouTube TV FireStick app is now available on the Amazon App Store as well. Anywhere in the United States, you can download and use the YouTube TV app on your FireStick.
Even though you can use Kodi Addons to access unlimited free content without jailbreaking your FireStick, YouTube is still a must have and one of the best Fire Stick apps. So, let’s see what we can do to get it back.

How to Install YouTube on Amazon FireStick
The YouTube app is now available for FireStick and can be downloaded from the Amazon Store. The steps are as follows:
1: Turn on your FireStick and wait for the home screen to appear.
Go to the upper left corner of the home window and select the search option (the lens icon)
2: Now type the YouTube app’s name.
Click the app when it appears in the search results.
3: From the list of apps that appears in the next window, select the YouTube app.
4: If this is your first time installing the app, select Get.
If you’ve already installed the app, select Download.
5: Allow for the download and installation of the app on your device. It could take a minute or longer.
6. To run YouTube, click Open. You can run it from Your Apps & Channels at a later time.
Preparing the YouTube Fire Stick App
You’re eager to get started using the app now that it’s been installed. So, there are a few things we need to do in order to get the app ready to play YouTube videos on FireStick. It shouldn’t take long.
Add the YouTube App Icon to the Homescreen of your FireStick
Return to the FireStick’s main screen. It’s possible that YouTube isn’t listed in your ‘Apps & Channels’ section (the second row). It’s all right! It’s always available from the Apps menu.
On the home screen, you can also move the YouTube icon. This is entirely up to you. However, having a frequently used app on the home screen makes things a little easier.
To move the icon, follow these steps:
#1. Select ‘Apps’ from the menu by holding down the Home button on your remote.
#2. You should now be able to see a list of all the apps you’ve installed.
#3. The most recently installed apps are usually near the bottom of the list. So, scroll to the bottom and choose YouTube app.
#4. On your remote, press the ‘Options’ button and select ‘Move’ from the popup that appears in the bottom right corner of the screen.
#5. You can now drag and drop the YouTube app icon wherever you want. It will appear on your FireStick home screen if you place it anywhere in the top row.
To drop and place the icon where you want it, press the ‘Select’ button.
Return to the FireStick home screen, where you’ll find the YouTube app.
Begin Using YouTube!
The following SIGN IN window appears when you run the app for the first time. Even though signing in is optional, I strongly advise you to do so. It will unblock all restricted content and allow you to view all of your existing subscriptions, playlists, and history associated with your YouTube Google ID.
You can also choose to use YouTube while signed out. There will still be plenty of content to watch. If you want to sign in later, go to the Accounts section in the left menu and sign in using the onscreen instructions.
If you choose to SIGN IN, here’s what you’ll need to do:
– The Sign In code is displayed in the following window.
– Go to youtube.com/activate on your computer or phone.
Enter the code for logging in.
If you haven’t already, sign in with your Google ID.
Installing YouTube TV on a FireStick
YouTube TV is YouTube’s Live TV section. It gives you access to ESPN, Fox, CBS, and a slew of other satellite channels. It had been a long time coming, but YouTube TV had finally arrived on FireStick. The wait is finally over, and YouTube TV is now available on the Amazon App Store.
I’ll now walk you through installing the official YouTube TV app from the Amazon Store on your FireStick (Method 1 below). At the same time, I’ve included alternate ways to obtain this app (Method 2 and Method 3).
There’s no need to use the alternative methods if you can get the YouTube TV FireStick app from the Amazon Store.
- Method 1 (Primary): Go to the Amazon Store and download the official YouTube TV FireStick app.
- Method 2: On the FireStick, install a third-party Live YouTube TV app.
- Method 3: Use a FireStick browser to access YouTube TV.
Install YouTube TV on FireStick from Amazon Store METHOD 1

YouTube TV is now available on FireStick, and if you live in the United States, you can get it from the Amazon Store. Outside of the United States, the YouTube TV app does not support live TV streaming.
Refer to the next section if you want to watch YouTube TV outside of the United States (Method 2)
The following are the steps to download YouTube TV from the Amazon Store to your Fire TV:
1: Open the Search option from the FireStick/Fire TV’s home screen.
Select the lens icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
YouTube TV can be installed on a Fire Stick.
2: Search for YouTube TV by typing in the app’s name.
When YouTube TV appears in the search results, click it.
3: In the next window, click the YouTube TV icon.
4: If this is your first time downloading YouTube TV to your FireStick, click Get.
If you’ve already downloaded and installed the app, select Download (which you will see in place of Get)
5: Wait for the YouTube TV application to download.
6: Open the app and run it.
Later, from the Your Apps & Channels section, you can access the YouTube TV FireStick app.
7: If you have a YouTube TV account, sign in with it.
To sign up for this services, click Try It Free.
On the FireStick, install a third-party Live YouTube TV app: Method 2
This is a third-party application. When we tested it, it performed just as well as the original YouTube TV app. We cannot, however, guarantee that it will continue to function. Please let us know if you have any problems in the comments section below.
Note: If you’ve already installed YouTube TV on your Amazon FireStick using the first method, you can skip this section.
If you want to download YouTube TV Fire Stick outside of the United States, you can use this third-party APK. With a VPN, you can use this app outside of the United States if you already have a YouTube TV subscription. You’ll still need a US-issued credit/debit card or a Paypal account with a US profile to subscribe to YouTube TV services.
Here’s how to get YouTube TV on your FireStick and use it:
1- From the home screen, go to the FireStick Settings.
The settings option can be found in the top menu bar.
2- After that, choose and open the option. On the next screen, you’ll see my Fire TV.
3- When this window appears, select Developer Options.
4- Make sure that Apps from Unknown Sources is turned on.
If it’s currently turned off, simply click it once to activate it.
5- To allow Apps from Unknown Sources, click Turn On.
6- Return to your FireStick’s home screen.
In the left corner of the main screen, select the Search option (select the lens icon)
7- Go ahead and search for the Downloader app.
When this app appears in the search results, click it.
Install Downloader by following the onscreen instructions.
To watch YouTube TV on your FireStick, you’ll need this app.

8- Launch the Downloader application.
Remove any prompts that appear on the screen.
In the left menu, select the Home tab.
On the right, click the textbox with https:// in it.
9- When the popup onscreen keypad appears, type in the following URL: http://ytv.firesticktricks.com
Also you can use the shorter version of the URL firesticktricks.com/ytv if you prefer.
Activate the GO button.
10-Be patient while the YouTube TV APK downloads.
11- When this prompt appears after the YouTube TV APK has downloaded, click Install.
12- After installing the YouTube TV app, click OPEN to get started.
I propose that we press DONE now and delete the YouTube TV APK file. We’ll use the app later.
13- On this prompt, if you clicked DONE above, click Delete.
14- Select the Delete option once more.
15- Now, close the Downloader app and return to your FireStick’s home screen.
Choose Your Apps & Channels from the second row on the home screen.
Click on the left-hand side of the screen. View All
Note: If you have more than 20 apps installed on your FireStick, the See All option will appear. If you don’t see this option, go to the right and click the Live YouTube TV app in the Your Apps & Channels row.
16- Scroll down to the bottom of the app list to the last row.
Click the YouTube TV app (the logo says “Live”).
17- Press the menu button on your Amazon Fire TV remote to have the app moved to the FireStick’s home screen for quick and easy access (the button that has 3 lines). In the popup window on your TV, select Move (bottom-right corner). Place the app in the top row of the first row.
18- On the following screen, select the desired resolution.
I’m going with the default resolution of 1080p.

19- When this prompt appears, click Allow.
20. To sign in to your YouTube TV account, click Sign In.
If you don’t have an account yet and want to try out the YouTube TV service, click TRY IT FREE.
21- You’ll see an activation code in the next window.
start on your computer or mobile device and go to tv.youtube.com, following the instructions on your TV screen.
Log in to your Google Account, where your YouTube TV subscription is stored.
In your browser, enter the code on the FireStick screen.
Access YouTube TV via a FireSick browser : Method 3
On the FireStick, you could also use the Silk Browser to access YouTube TV. FireStick comes preinstalled with this browser. If you accidentally uninstalled it, here’s how to reinstall it and watch YouTube TV:
- From the FireStick main screen, go to the top-left corner and select Search (lens icon).
- Type ‘Silk Browser’ into the search box (without quotes)
- In the search results, look for ‘Silk Browser.’
- On the next window, click the ‘Silk Browser’ icon.
- To download and install the app, click the ‘Download’ button.
- Go to https://tv.youtube.com/ in the Silk Browser.
